2000 –ongoing  Watercolor Sketching

While I have been working with watercolor for over forty years, watercolor sketching is a relatively recent addition to my artistic pursuits. At the turn of the millennium I took a research trip to India to prepare for a series of paintings on Buddhist Animal Wisdom Stories. In India I found that doing watercolor sketches created a very unique memory bond with the subject he was painting -- a bond that was a complete sensory experience. The I have found sketching a wonderful break from the more structured approach of my studio painting. I then began teaching special one-week traveling classes with my students focusing on watercolor sketching. The classes proved very popular and I have continued them after my retirement from university teaching.
