1996-2000 Elders of the Benedictines

Having greatly enjoyed the first elders project, I undertook a second this time focusing on elders of Benedictine monastic communities throughout the United States. Leaders of monasteries nominated members and I traveled to 30 communities nation-wide, spending one to two days interviewing and photographing the elders. The 30” X 30” paintings and interviews were then developed at my studio. The interviews focus on the moral and spiritual aspects of the elder’s lives. Their responses gave wise and compassionate counsel for people of any faith.
